The Podcast

Conversations about food, the body, and
the deeper patterns that shape our experience.

Most conversations about food and weight focus on what to eat…
how to eat…
and how to control the body.

This podcast explores something different.

The relationship between:

→ food and identity
→ the body and self-worth
→ control and connection

Because the real struggle isn’t just physical.

It’s emotional.
It’s psychological.
And often… it’s invisible.

A Different Conversation

Inside these episodes, we step outside the traditional diet-and-exercise
model and explore a different perspective.

One where:

→ your body is not the enemy
→ food is not something to fear or control
→ and change doesn’t come from force

But from understanding.

Depending on the episode, you'll find:

→ solo reflections and teachings
→ deeper dives into the Happy Calories Don’t Count® approach
→ conversations about body image, emotional eating, and cultural conditioning
→ explorations of mindset, identity, and personal transformation

Start Anywhere

There’s no “right” place to begin.

Start with whatever resonates.

And as you listen, you may begin to notice something shifting…

Not just in what you think about food…

But in how you experience your body.

Constructing Reality vs Creating Reality
In today’s world you need a special set of media and marketing literacy tools to navigate the strategic assaults on your self-esteem and body image. In the tech area, “reality” is being constructed by algorithms. Internet searches and social media recommendations are based on what algorithms conclude is true about you (which may not be the case). This limits the perspective you experience of the world, therefore shaping your perceptions and “reality.” This constructed reality is a completely different issue that the idea of “creating your reality.” This episode illustrates how tech influences manufacture your “reality” and deconstructs the metaphysical principles of “creating your reality” in a practical, tangible way.
Louise Hay in Diet Drama Land?
Louise Hay is sort of the “grandmother” of the current self-help world. She taught us that we could heal our bodies and our selves by harnessing the power of our thoughts. She taught us that our bodies responded to affirmations. She taught us to say affirmations such as “I love myself just the way I am” and that it was even better if we did that while looking in a mirror. I have spoken extensively on my love/hate relationship with Louise Hay. I have nothing but love and respect for the woman. During a dark time in my life, I wrote her a letter - and she wrote me back! However, affirmations are not “magic.” Affirmations are not about “reprogramming your unconscious.” Affirmations are tools to help you feel better in the present moment. This episode deconstructs one particular affirmation and demonstrates how even the Queen of Self-Help fundamentally still operates from within the context of Diet Drama Land.
Your Pain Is Not Your Fault – Your Healing Is Your Responsibility
Your weight is not your fault. It’s not to your credit either. Your pain is not your fault. But your healing is your responsibility. An important episode for anyone struggling with food, exercise, weight or body image issues - whether you have been diagnosed with an eating disorder or not. Discover the two parts to an eating disorder and why this makes them so difficult to truly overcome and put to bed. Learn how certain mindsets keep you stuck in “recovery” when true freedom begins when you have “recovered.”
What You Need To Hear To Heal Your Body Drama
What do you really need to hear to heal your pain, shame, and drama around food, exercise your body and your weight? Is it the latest celebrity diet? You know that’s not true. Is it the hottest new calorie busting workout? Nope - you’ve been down that road too. Is it a “secret to manifestation” or a legitimate spiritual truth? Well - how do you apply it? What YOU need to hear is based on your own journey - what you’ve learned, what you’ve experienced, what you know to be true for you. The words might be different - but the message is always the same: Take three deep breaths. Get centered. Get grounded. Connect with yourself. Connect with your body - and you will “hear” the answer.
Milkshakes, Science & Weight Loss
Does “Science” really matter when it comes to creating a body and life you love? What happens metabolically if you think you’re eating “good” food? Or “bad” food? Is “science” always right? Can it really help you? Join me in a discussion exploring the discipline of Science through the lens of the Happy Calories Don’t Count® model and discover the perspectives that truly empower you to diet the diet drama, find peace and freedom from food - and create sustainable results.
Influencing Thought & Normalizing Dysfunction
How do you create true freedom from food drama? How do you claim your personal power? You are allowed, you have the right, you have the freedom to be who you are and do what you want to do and exist how you want to exist - and to want to look how you want to look. Part of standing in your personal power comes from understanding how other people are trying to influence your behavior, influence your pocket book, influence your mindset - all of those things. When you can stand back and you can really look at a situation eyes wide open, and see what’s going on - then you can decide from a place of empowerment, how you want to engage. People try to influence behavior all the time. Everyone does it. It's it's part of life. What is really important is where it shifts from trying to influence behavior to influence how you think - especially about yourself.
